Understanding Hindi Intransitive Verbs
In Hindi, just like in English, we have different types of verbs. One special kind of verb is called an 'Intransitive Verb'. These verbs are like little actions that happen all by themselves. They don't need a thing or a person to receive the action.
When we use intransitive verbs, we are simply talking about an action that happens. For example, when we say 'He sleeps', the action of sleeping doesn't need anything else to complete it. It's just something he does.
How to Identify Intransitive Verbs
Important Points
  • Intransitive verbs do not have a direct object.
  • They often describe actions related to movement, states, or changes.
  • Common examples include sleeping, coming, going, and laughing.
Examples
  • वह सोता है।
  • पक्षी उड़ रहे हैं।
  • बच्चे हँस रहे हैं।
Using Intransitive Verbs in Sentences
When you want to use an intransitive verb in a sentence, you simply need to think about the action and who is doing it. You don't have to worry about what or who the action is being done to.
Examples
  • मैं दौड़ रहा हूँ।
  • वह गिर गई।
  • तुम गए।
Remember, intransitive verbs are simple and fun! They tell us about actions that are complete in themselves. Whenever you're talking about someone doing something that doesn't need anything else, you're probably using an intransitive verb.
