Understanding Active and Passive Voice in Македонски
In Македонски, verbs can be used in two main ways: active voice and passive voice. The voice of a verb tells us whether the subject of the sentence is doing the action or receiving the action.
In the active voice, the subject of the sentence is the one doing the action. This is the most common way we talk about actions.
Examples
- Марија чита книга.
- Том јаде јаболко.
- Кучето трча во паркот.
In the passive voice, the subject of the sentence is the one receiving the action. We often use this when we don't know who did the action or when the action is more important than who did it.
Examples
- Книгата е прочитана од Марија.
- Јаболкото е изедено од Том.
- Писмото е напишано од неа.
Forming the Passive Voice
Important Points
- Use the verb 'to be' (биде) in the correct tense.
- Add the past participle of the main verb.
- Mention the doer of the action with 'од' if it's important.
Examples
- Книгата беше прочитана.
- Јаболкото е изедено.
- Писмото ќе биде напишано.
