Understanding Comparative and Superlative Forms in Macedonian
In Macedonian, just like in English, we use adjectives to describe things. Sometimes, we want to compare things to show how they are different. For example, you might want to say that one apple is bigger than another apple, or that one apple is the biggest of all the apples.
We use the comparative form when we want to compare two things. In Macedonian, to make the comparative form of an adjective, we usually add the word 'по-' before the adjective.
Examples
- Јаболкото е по-црвено од крушата.
- Книгата е по-интересна од филмот.
- Мојата куќа е по-голема од твојата.
We use the superlative form when we want to say that something is the most out of a group of things. In Macedonian, we add 'нај-' before the adjective to make it superlative.
Examples
- Ова е нај-големата куќа на улицата.
- Тој е нај-доброто дете во класот.
- Ова е нај-вкусната торта што сум ја пробал.
